There are 3 main grocery stores in KI, with a few smaller stores, and snack shops that are open until late at night (the big stores and shops do have credit/debit card use).
Infrastructure includes a brand new (2018) clinic with health offices, a band office, youth centre, community hall, laundromat, garage, and pre-school centre.
If you are into hockey and/or broomball, KI has an arena that is used all year round, with winter sports on a naturally frozen rink, and summer sports on the dried rink. There is a baseball diamond at the field, and a fitness centre with weights and machines in the arena. Also, basketball and volleyball occur weekly at the school gym. If you are into outdoor activities, KI has amazing fishing, hunting, hiking and skidoo trails, and swimming areas.
You are best to open a CIBC account if you do not have access to online banking, and bring cash with you as ATM’s are not stocked daily.
KNET and TbayTel are the cell phone providers that work in KI, however KNET is the only provider that has working data in this community.Cable tv and high-speed internet are available in the community, with connection, monthly, and equipment fees being charged.
Teacherages are available furnished, ranging from single units to houses, with rent including the hydro, water, fuel and maintenance fees.
Walmart delivers small orders for a fee of $10, while numerous other stores ship to this location as well. The community stores do order in personally requested items whenever they can.
